Special Education Assistant
Greenwood School District 50 – 2025–2026 School Year

 

Greenwood School District 50 is seeking dedicated and compassionate Special Education Assistants to support students and teachers in creating a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.

 

Responsibilities:

 

• Assist the classroom teacher and provide direct support to students as outlined in their IEPs

• Supervise and assist assigned students throughout the school day, including during transitions, meals, and classroom activities

• Maintain confidentiality and professional conduct at all times

• Participate in training and professional development as assigned

• Build supportive relationships with students, staff, and families

 

Qualifications:

 

• Sixty (60) semester hours of postsecondary coursework, or an associate’s degree, or successful completion of the ParaPro Assessment

• Strong communication and teamwork skills

• Ability to support students with patience, empathy, and consistency

• Physical ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs. and assist with student mobility as needed

 

Work Schedule & Pay:

 

• 180 days per year, 7.5 hours per day

• Salary determined by the district’s Classified Salary Schedule
