Job Description

Elementary Bible Specialist (TK-Grade 3)

Part Time – 10-months, Exempt, Category 6

Salary Range: $60,000-$90,000

(Salary will be prorated based on # of classes assigned)

 

                                                                                    

General

The purpose of the Elementary Bible Specialist is to work closely with the Elementary School Principal, Elementary Director, Head of Bible, Discipleship, and Spiritual Life, and grade-level teachers to determine the most effective way to teach the Bible in each classroom.

 

The TK-3 Bible Specialist reports directly to the Head of Bible Discipleship and Spiritual Life.  The TK-3 Bible Specialist will serve in the teaching faculty of the TK-3 campus and work closely with the TK-3 Director and Principal.

 

Qualifications

  • Devoted Disciple - Be a committed disciple of Jesus Christ and have a track record of service, involvement in a local Church, and a deep desire to serve and teach elementary-age Children.
  • Missional Calling - Have and maintain a commitment to the school’s statement of faith.
  • Gifted Teacher - Be an effective and creative communicator of the Scriptures and the gospel to elementary-age children.
  • Elementary School Experience - 3-5 years of experience working with TK-3rd-grade-age children.  
  • Administration – Have strong organizational skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills.

·         Training - B.A degree in Biblical Studies or Christian Ministries

(M.S. in Biblical Studies - Preferred)

 

 

Primary Duties

A.     Professional Growth

·         Commits to expertise and growth

·         Maintains professional reading

·         Actively pursuing spiritual and relational growth and maturity

 

B.     Professional Responsibilities and Duties

o    Teach TK-3 Bible Classes (1 lesson per week to each class)

Bible Teaching Lessons will include:

                                                  i.    Teaching the provided curriculum

                                                ii.    Songs

                                               iii.    Memory work

                                               iv.    Related activities

o    Support the Head of Bible, Discipleship, and Spiritual Life by coordinating weekly chapel logistics and communication.

o    Abide by the spirit and policies in the OCS Faculty Handbook

 

 

Other Duties

o   Plan Bible lessons for TK-3 grade students

o   Grades/report cards

o   Attend faculty meetings, in-service days, department meetings, and Summer professional development.

 

*All other duties as assigned.
