GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
The School of Audiology (SOA) in the College of Health Professions at Pacific University seeks candidates with expertise in clinical audiology who are excited to advance audiology education to meet the changing needs of the future. Candidates should complement existing interests in the school and contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community. Join our innovative team and
- Provide patient-centered audiology services in conjunction with clinical precepting of students in the Pacific EarClinic and community-based experiences;
- Collaborate in advancing student development of clinical reasoning skills and practical competence in the school's teaching labs,
- Teach courses in one's area of expertise and
- Engage in scholarship and service to the school, college, university, community, and profession.
- Interprofessional education opportunities abound and are encouraged.
The SOA, established in 2012, is housed in the OHSU Tuality 7th Avenue Medical Plaza Building. The Doctor of Audiology (AuD) degree program utilizes an accelerated three year (121 credit), block-curriculum model. State of the art facilities include media classrooms, simulation, and teaching labs. Collaboration opportunities are plentiful within the University and with the NCRAR and OHSU in Portland. Approximately 80 audiology students across three cohorts participate in interprofessional education with other students in the college including Athletic Training, Dental Hygiene, Graduate Psychology, Healthcare Administration and Leadership, Occupational Therapy, Pharmacy, Physician Assistant and Physical Therapy. Pacific University's Health Professions campus, located in the Hillsboro Health and Education District, is 15 miles west of downtown Portland and easily accessible by public transit.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Teach in the AuD program,
- Develop and maintain a line of scholarship that results in dissemination and includes mentoring student scholarship
- Support the educational mission and vision of the school, according to the needs of the school
- Engage in service to the school, college, university, community, and profession.
