Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:

Under direction of the Director, Clinical Operations and in conjunction with the scheduler and CVS staff, provides clerical and administrative assistant support to the CVS Department and the VIR/Radiology service to insure smooth and efficient operations.  Within the scope of responsibilities and training may perform other duties as listed below. 

 

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES/CRITICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Coordinates and manages the scheduling of patients for tests and procedures to include scheduling appointments in both Meditech and Outlook, obtaining necessary demographic and clinical information from patients, physician’s and other departments to appropriately schedule procedures, admits and discharges patients.

  • Creates reports as requested by practice manager or administrator
  • Maintains statistical reports and files, processes patient reports
  • Answers telephones and directs calls as appropriate
  • Maintains department supplies, orders as needed.
  • Provides information to patients and physician offices regarding available services. Responds to inquiries by physician offices and vendors. 
  • Keeps vendors, technician, physician(s), and director apprised of appropriate operations issues. 
  • May perform EKG’s and other testing as qualified
  • May provide transcription support as needed.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma and minimum 3 years experience in health care operations is required.  
  • Experience in a physician’s office or hospital is preferred by not required.  
  • Medical terminology is desired

Pediatric (0 – 18)

Adult (18-64 years)

Geriatric (65 plus years)

 

MANUAL SKILLS:

Some portions of daily assignments involve application of manual skills requiring motor coordination in combination with finger dexterity. (e.g., typing, machine operations, administration of routine treatments, injections, etc. or use of hand and/or power tools in various crafts and trades.)

 

PHYSICAL EFFORT:

Some portions of daily assignments involve prolonged standing, transporting material, equipment, patients, or lifting, moving, or carrying heavy (over 30 pounds) for intermittent periods throughout the day.

 

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT:

Generally pleasant working conditions.  Nature of duties performed present little or no potential for job-related accidental injury.
