Job Description

The Research Associate will play a vital role in advancing our stem cell research programs. This hands-on position is ideal for a highly organized, detail oriented scientist with strong expertise in iPSC culture and sterile technique. The successful candidate will support the maintenance and differentiation of bovine stem cell lines, prepare critical reagents, and contribute to the development, optimization, and documentation of protocols that enable our growing commercial pipeline. 

 

This position reports to the Chief Scientific Officer, Recombinetics (URUS Innovation Group) and will be based in Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan area (onsite collaboration required). 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES  

 

  • Experimental Execution & Stem Cell Research 

    • Conduct experiments with bovine embryos and stem cells to improve derivation techniques and characterization workflows.  

    • Perform downstream differentiations to assess stem cell line quality, stability, and performance. 

 

  • Cell Line Maintenance & Culture Operations 

    • Carry out routine culture, passaging, and cryopreservation of bovine stem cell lines.  

    • Prepare essential reagents, including media, small molecules, and other cell culture components, with high accuracy and consistency. 

 

  • Data Management & Documentation 

    • Accurately record experimental data and maintain organized, detailed laboratory documentation.  

    • Learn and apply data analysis techniques in collaboration with senior scientists. 

 

  • Team Collaboration & Project Support 

    • Work closely with senior team members and actively contribute to team meetings and discussions.  

    • Support multiple ongoing projects and respond effectively to shifting priorities in a dynamic research environment. 

 

 

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Cell Biology, Developmental Biology, or a related discipline.  

  • Extensive hands-on experience with iPSC or ESC culture and strong proficiency in sterile technique 

  • Familiarity with 3D culture systems or downstream differentiation workflows is a plus, though not required. 

  • Proven ability to follow experimental protocols with precision and maintain contamination free cultures.  

  • Strong commitment to accurate data recording and thorough experimental documentation.  

  • Ability to manage multiple cell lines and coordinate parallel experimental timelines effectively.  

  • Positive, collaborative mindset with adaptability and enthusiasm for hands-on bench work.  

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.  

  • Highly desirable experience with FACS sorting, microdissection, or micromanipulation.
