Advise current and future education students regarding School of Education and university policies regarding program requirements, timelines, policies, and due dates.
Understand the complicated nature of licensure requirements and work directly with students seeking teacher licensure to ensure that they meet all requirements, including content and licensure coursework and required licensure exams.
Guide current and prospective students in clarifying and understanding their abilities, interests, values, and goals and applying that self-reflection to their educational aspirations through attainable academic pathways and future careers.
Connect with advisees at least once per semester regarding their degree plans, expectations, and progress, and initiate escalations and interventions where appropriate, connecting students with appropriate support services to ensure student success.
Evaluate student academic records (high school and college) and recommend appropriate courses based upon that evaluation in consultation with the student.
Use university software systems and internal processes to maintain accurate, detailed records of all advising contacts, ensuring strict confidentiality of academic records.
Remain updated and apply state rules on licensure and funding (e.g. Colorado Department of Education and Colorado Department of Higher Education) when advising students.
Collaborate with Advising departments on campus to support information-sharing, development of standard methodologies, and relationship-building among the campus-wide advising community.

Assist in processing intra-university transfer applications and graduate licensure applicants, working with program chairs, admissions, and all other appropriate SOE and CU Boulder partners.
Evaluate licensure application transcripts for appropriate course completion.
Explain processes and procedures for intra-university transfer applications, petitions, independent studies, and incomplete agreements, and assist students in appropriately completing electronic forms.
Update data in student information systems as appropriate, e.g. updates to minor declarations and degree audits.
Assist with manual registration of students into restricted classes.
Liaise with program chairs and academic departments within the SOE and throughout campus as a leader for specific programs and initiatives.
