Job Description

Middle School Religion Teacher (6th–8th Grade)

St. Alphonsus Catholic School is seeking a faith-filled, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic Middle School Religion Teacher to join our faculty for the upcoming school year. Rooted in the mission of St. Alphonsus, we are committed to forming students spiritually, academically, physically, and culturally in an environment of academic excellence. We are looking for an educator who will joyfully model the Catholic faith, foster a deeper understanding of Church teachings, and guide students in their personal relationship with Christ.

 

Position Responsibilities

The Middle School Religion Teacher will:

 

  • Create a positive classroom environment that supports both faith formation and academic growth.
  • Teach religion curriculum aligned with the Diocese of Baton Rouge, including Scripture, Church teachings, sacraments, and moral development.
  • Encourage students to live out their faith through prayer, service, and participation in the sacramental life of the Church.
  • Integrate Catholic values across lessons and support students in developing a strong moral foundation.
  • Collaborate with middle school teachers, support staff, and administration to support the whole child.
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress, expectations, and classroom updates.
  • Participate in school liturgies, retreats, faith formation opportunities, and school community events.
  • Uphold all policies and expectations of St. Alphonsus Catholic School and the Diocese of Baton Rouge.

Qualifications

Preferred candidates will:

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree; teaching certification is preferred.
  • Have experience teaching middle school students.
  • Have coursework in Religious Education or Theology.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to the Catholic faith and the mission of Catholic education.
  • Possess strong classroom management, communication, and collaboration skills.
