Job Description
The Industrial CDL Delivery Driver / Industrial Customer Service Representative are responsible for serving walk-in customers and phone-in customers. When needed, will cover CDL Industrial Route, delivering and exchanging full cylinders, liquid vessels for empty ones and delivering freight to customers. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Duties & Responsibilities
Essential
- Greet customers in a professional and enthusiastic way
- Answer telephone calls promptly
- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of products, placement, availability, price and use
- Efficiently assess customer needs for product or services
- Sell welding and safety products and services to customer
- Process customer orders and accurately input customer order into the computer
- Handle cash sales accuarately
- Research products needed for customer special applications
- Research and expedite customer back orders
- Follow up on customer orders not processed correctly and remedy situation
- Communicate with Purchasing Department regarding any special order needs
- Issue product sales quotes to cutomers
- Keep sales literature current and organized
- Track order delivery process in the computer
- Load products into customer vehicles
- Adhere to all established procedures, policies and safety
- Perform pre-trip inspection of truck
- Loads freight and accurately fills out truck manifest
- Accurately fills out gas invoices
- Delivers freight and gas cylinders to customers
- Load and unload freight cylinders on truck
- Frequently moving industrial gas cylinders
- Perform other tasks as assigned or needed
Additional Duties
- Fill liquid Carbon Dioxide tanks for customers
- Assist outside sales people, as needed
- Issue product credits as needed
- Maintain clean showroom and work area
- Answer billing questions or direct to proper billing personnel
- Participate in both vendor and Norco in-services
- Wage $22-$26/hr DOE
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to drive and back tractor trailer combination
- Ability to perform tasks requiring manual dexterity ( writing invoice, picking up small cylindetrs, rolling large cylinders, pushing cylinder cart, hand card, hand trucks, steering truck, etc.)
- Ability to lift 50lbs on a regular basis and occasionally lift and/or carry objects weighing over 100lbs.
- Knowledge of hauling hazardous material
- Ability to accuaretly fill out truck manifest and gas ticket invoices
- Load and secure freight and cylinders in trailer
- Excellent customer service skills
- Good organizational skills
- Ability to work safely around special hazards (i.e. mechanical- operating lift gate, explosives - haul and work around flammable gas and non-flammable gas)
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time
- Ability to stand, walk lift, bend and twist (60 degrees) approximately 50% of the time
- Basic understanding of which applications are used for different gases
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Basic working knowledge of how welders, regulators and cutting equipment operate
- Ability to multi-task
- Working knowledge of computers
- Be flexible to do other duties as assigned or needed

- Two-axle tractor with 27 foot trailer
- Box/stake-bed truck
- Liquid Carbon Dioxide Tanker tractor
- Forklift (occasionally used)
- Pallet jack ( occasionally used)
- Hand truck
- Computer terminal
- Multi-line phone system
Education or Experience Required
- Experience driveng two-axle tractore with 27 ft trailer preferred
- High school graduate or equivalent
- 1 ear verifiable city delivery experience preferred
- No at fault accidents or DOT moving violations in the past 3 years
License or Certificate Required
- Class A or B CDL with Hazardous Material endorsement and excellent driving record
- Tanker endorsement
- Manual endorsement preferred (not required)
