    General Summary:
    A Substitute Bus Driver plays a vital role in supporting the daily transportation needs of the United Community School District by safely transporting students to and from school or authorized school-related events on an as-needed basis. This position requires a dependable and caring individual who values safety, punctuality, and positive interactions with children. Substitute drivers help ensure continuity of service and uphold the district’s commitment to student well-being and community trust.

     

    Qualifications:

     
    • High school diploma or equivalent

    • Valid CDL with school bus and passenger endorsements (or willingness to obtain)

    • Clean driving record

    • Ability to pass required background checks and physical examinations

    • Annual Department of Transportation Medical Examiners’ Certificate

    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

    • Experience working with children is preferred

    • A commitment to safety, reliability, and professionalism
       

     

    Duties and Responsibilities:

     
    • Safely operate a school bus on regular or special routes as assigned

    • Follow established routes and schedules in a timely and responsible manner

    • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and readiness

    • Maintain appropriate student conduct and ensure student safety on the bus

    • Build positive and respectful relationships with students, families, and staff

    • Communicate effectively with school personnel, students, and families as needed

    • Report any safety concerns, incidents, or mechanical issues promptly

    • Follow all applicable federal, state, and local transportation regulations
       

     

    Duty Days:
    As needed on student contact days through May 30, 2026

     

    Compensation:

     
    • $50.25 per trip

    • Potential for additional pay based on trip type and duration
