POSITION SUMMARY
The Shop Apprentice supports both the fabrication and warehouse operations ensuring installation crews have what they need to work efficiently. Responsibilities include fabricating fire sprinkler components, managing inventory, handling material deliveries and pickups, and maintaining a safe, organized work environment. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and embodies a “do what it takes” attitude aligned with our company’s core values.
OBJECTIVES
• Operate pipe threaders, roll groovers, cold & band saws, grinders, and hand tools.
• Follow detailed fabrication instructions, assembly drawings, and procedures for accurate, high-quality production.
• Organize and maintain the fabrication shop, yard and warehouse, ensuring materials are properly stored, accounted for, and easily accessible.
• Assist with inventory maintenance and process returns to stock from jobsites.
• Load and unload material deliveries.
• Ensure timely deliveries of parts and materials, representing Ironsmith Fire in a professional manner.
• Maintain and inspect equipment, tools, and vehicles for safety and functionality, report issues promptly.
• Support the Shop Foreman in meeting installation needs while maintaining efficient shop and warehouse operations.
• Engage in continuous learning and training to improve skills in both fabrication and material handling.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Previous warehouse or fabrication experience preferred but not required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Ability to lift and transport up to 50 lbs.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced fabrication shop and warehouse environment
• Prolonged periods of standing, bending, or moving in and around the shop/yard
• Occasional travel to branch locations or job sites for deliveries
• Good general health and stamina to perform physically demanding work safely
