PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT TRAINEE

FLSA Status: Exempt

Acme Brick Company (a Berkshire Hathaway Company) is an organization of professionals in the manufacturing and building material distribution industry. We manufacture brick and distribute our own brick as well as brick and associated products manufactured by others. We operate in 13 states with a philosophy that we are much more than a brick manufacturer and distributor.

Summary

We are seeking a Production Management Trainee to join our plant leadership team. As part of our leadership development program, you will shadow Production Supervisors to learn the daily activities of a brick manufacturing plant. You will gain a working knowledge of various machines that manufacture our products as well as build leadership skills providing guidance and direction to production associates. The ideal candidate has a natural ability to roll with the punches, being flexible to handle anything that might come their way. Your efforts to learn as a management trainee allow us to achieve manufacturing goals while nurturing the pleasant work environment our people love.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned) This is a safety sensitive position.

·         Learn to establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules.

·         Observe the changes in conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of work crew.

·         Gain an understanding of recommendations and knowledge needed to implement new procedures.

·         Build relationships with other supervisors/management to coordinate activities of plant departments.

·         Understand and help ensure department and workplace safety by adhering to all federal, state, local, and Acme Brick Company policies and procedures.

·         Shadow supervisors to analyze and resolve work problems or assist associates in solving work related problems.

Skills and Experience Required for Success

·         2+ years of relevant experience or working knowledge in a manufacturing environment.

·         Successful in a team setting that values the use of various individual’s strengths to accomplish goals.

·         Proficient using MS Office.

Education

 

·         High school diploma required; some college is preferred. One to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
