    Reports to: Building Principal or District Administrator

    Qualifications:

    • Certification as WI DPI Principal
    • Master's Degree in Educational Leadership
    • Five years elementary or middle school teaching experience (preferred)
    • Ability to communicate and work effectively with others on a team
    • Such other qualifications as the District Administrator/Board of Education may find appropriate
    • Shall complete a physical examination

    Abilities, Skills and Knowledge Desired:

    • As an instructional leader, the Associate Principal will assist the Principal in the overall administration of the policies and day-to-day operations of any programs that serve all students.
    • She/he will do this by:
      • Supporting creation of a safe, orderly, inviting place to teach and learn
      • Working effectively with all individuals and teams
      • supervising /evaluating/coaching teachers and support staff(as assigned by the Principal)

    Responsibilities: Supervises Teachers and Support Staff

    Program Supervision

    • Implements the attendance policy, including truancy and tardiness
    • Establishes and implements discipline processes and procedures. Priority- This includes processing of majors and bus referrals. 
    • Schedules tornado, fire, and lockdown drills
    • Supervises and oversees lunchroom and playground aides
    • Visible for bus duty, hall passing time, or daily in the lunchroom

    Monitoring Student Progress 

    • Continually emphasizes student learning in the district's professional learning community philosophy.
    • Assists the Principal in systematically assessing and monitoring student progress using data.
    • Monitors assigned aspects of IEP-Team as LEA (Local Educational Agency)

    Establishing an Effective Learning Environment

    • Implements a clearly understood RTI system that promotes student learning and safety.
    • Protects instructional time by minimizing interruptions to the teaching/learning process
    • Interacts positively with students to encourage each to perform at the highest level
    • Maintains high visibility throughout the school especially during bus and lunch times

    Decision Making & Problem Solving

    • Makes decisions in a timely fashion, appropriately involving others, and maximizes effectiveness by follow-up actions. 
    • Clearly communicates decision-making processes and final decisions with rationale to all affected (especially contacting parents)
    • Uses appropriate research, accurate information, and best practices in the decision-making process. 

    Staff Supervision & Personnel Evaluation

    • Implements personnel evaluation through the effectiveness model with observations and walkthroughs, including summative evaluations. 
    • Coaches employees to ensure effectiveness and professional growth.
    • Coaches and appropriately responds to performance concerns and recommends remediation and/or removal of unsatisfactory personnel. 
    • Coordinates meetings, evaluates, and fields questions from lunchroom and playground aides.
    • Is involved with the Principal in the hiring process for professional and support staff,

    Student & Staff Relations

    • Models quality communications skills- effectively interacts with students, parents and staff.
    • Provides regular recognition for positive efforts of students and teachers. 
    • Communicates high expectations for both staff and students and provides appropriate modeling and motivation. 

    Other Duties

    • Perform all other duties as assigned by the District Administrator

    Performance Evaluation: Performance to be evaluated once a year by the Director of Human Resources

    Employment:

    • Twelve Month
    • To be determined based on past leadership experience
