We are seeking an energetic, passionate, and creative Summer Camp Activity Leader to lead activities for children and young adults with special needs. This role involves developing and executing an exciting curriculum for students ages 6-16 or 18-22 in various subject areas, including but not limited to: art, science and engineering, sports and recreation, coding, cooking, life skills, music/movement. The activity leader is responsible for maintaining organization, enthusiasm and ensuring that each camper receives a rewarding and inclusive experience.

 

Position Details: 

  • Location: Sherman Oaks
  • May 4, 2026, through May 15, 2026 (5 hours per week)
  • Camp Sessions: June 8th to July 2nd (30 hours/week)
  • Final Week: August3thto August 7th (30 hours/week)
  • Training and Orientation: June 6th (6 Hours)
  • Must be available for all required training and orientations prior to camp start, no exceptions.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Develop and implement a curriculum for students ages 6-16 or 18-22, incorporating subjects like art, sports, engineering, coding, cooking, life skills, and music/movement.
  • Create a classroom environment where 12 campersremainengaged and inspired
  • Plan andfacilitatehands-on, creative, and educational activities.
  • Adapt activities to meet the individual needs and abilities of specialneedsstudents.
  • Provide clear instructions and positive reinforcement tomaintainan organized and structured environment.
  • Foster a supportive, inclusive atmosphere that encourages participation, teamwork, and social development.
  • Maintain a safe, fun, and welcoming environment at all times.

 Qualifications 

  • Prior experience working with special needs students is highly preferred
  • Ability to lead and manage a classroom of 12 campers
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask
  • Passionate about working with children and creating an engaging learning experience
  • Creative and enthusiastic with the ability to adapt activities to fit the campers' needs
  • Must be able to commit to all scheduled hours

The salary range represents the low and high end of the salary someone in this role may earn as an employee of The Help Group.
