Job Summary:




The Department of Transplant Surgery at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time TH Associate Administrator / Renal Transplant Administrator.


The Renal Transplant Administrator will oversee the strategic, regulatory, financial, and operational management of a growing kidney transplant program. This role partners directly with the Division Chief and Medical Director and is responsible for the operational integrity and performance of the program across pre-transplant, inpatient, and post-transplant services.


Key Responsibilities


Operational Leadership:



  • Own program workflows, staffing structure, coverage models, and process optimization

  • Lead weekly operational meetings and enforce accountability across multidisciplinary teams

  • Standardize and enforce timelines for referrals, evaluations, listing, and follow-up care


Regulatory & Compliance:



  • Maintain continuous readiness with UNOS, OPTN, CMS, Joint Commission, and DOH requirements

  • Direct QAPI structure and reporting

  • Manage audit preparation, submissions, and corrective action plans


Financial & Business Management:



  • Develop and manage operating budgets

  • Monitor billing accuracy and reimbursement metrics tied to transplant services

  • Support program expansion (outreach partnerships, payer strategy)


Personnel Management:



  • Supervise coordinators; support staff, and administrative functions

  • Oversee performance management, hiring, coaching, and escalation processes  

  • Maintain a culture of accountability, transparency, and patient-centered performance


Executive Reporting:



  • Prepare operational dashboards, KPI reports, and strategic updates for system leadership






Required Qualifications:





  • Master's Degree (with Business Management/Administration/Leadership concentration strongly preferred)

  • Experience in leadership in transplant or similar regulated programs

  • Proven experience managing multi-disciplinary teams in a large academic or hospital system

  • Strong command of transplant operations, regulatory compliance, and performance analytics

Monday to Friday; 9:00am to 4:00pm (Full-Time)






Salary Grade/Rank:



MP-3



Salary Range:




Commensurate with experience and qualifications



  • $195,000 - $225,000 Total Annual Salary
