Description

The senior Associate will manage and/or support the work of 2 or more team members, is an experienced project manager, is involved in relevant (local) office decisions, and is seen as a leader in their respective office.  Role has an emphasis on team building, client satisfaction, and project management and profitability.  The senior associate shows a passion for lighting design and a belief in HLB’s Corporate Culture.  Will participate in the base of leadership from which HLB will sustain and grow.  Position is 70% manager, 30% leader. 

 

Responsibilities

Achieving Results – Project Responsibilities

  • Responsibility for monthly invoicing and timely response to fee drafts and collections issues
  • Negotiates additional services / scope modifications as required
  • Develops technical skills appropriate to area of expertise and continually improves skills and knowledge through supplemental education, seminars, et
  • Deep knowledge of budgets, project structure, and project financials.
  • Requires minimal supervision from Principals
  • Responsible for full delivery of a project from start to finish with team / ownership of all associated tasks – produces and oversees. 
  • Manages the team to produce work efficiently and profitably on increasingly larger projects
  • Reviewing RFP (Request for Proposal) and RFQ (Request for Qualification) documents and preparing response packages including drafts of fee proposals, business bios, project descriptions
  • Creating labor hour budgets for projects relative to work they have generated or as needed
  • Works with principals on project load and billings projections.
  • Builds and/or contributes to a specialized studio in a specific lighting project type or application (i.e. Practice Leader Group – PLG)

·        Develops and maintains client and/or business relationships as a result of client satisfaction and continued loyalty

·        Promotes and delivers repeat business through their individual Principal Marketing Plan - PMP

·        Pursue existing and new clients through Principal Marketing Plan - PMP

·        Enhance HLB’s value to the client and promote the firm

·        Ability to trouble-shoot problems and implement well thought solutions

·        Implements communication skills to manage client expectations and communicate effectively with all levels of the client’s team members

·        Elevated role in business development and expanding HLB’s market share

·        Recognized by clients as a trusted individual to consistently deliver and meet expectations

·        Promotes and delivers HLB marketing presentations to clients and the industry

     

Working with Teammates and Managers – Management Responsibilities

·        Manage and Mentor team effectively – delegation skills

·        Manages their own work in addition to their teams’ or firm wide team members’ – prioritizes critical path items for multiple projects or team members

·        Implement good judgment and leadership within the project team to support the firm’s business model.

·        Resolves issues with full understanding for identifying and implements the solution internally and externally

·        Participate in office-wide discussions and decisions regarding staff, profitability, and performance growth with the principals in respective office.

·        Serves as a role model for others and mentors the team

·        Interface among the principals, design/technical staff and business team as needed and communicate effectively with varied staff levels.

·        Ensures their best practices are used in Quality Assurance processes for the firm

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Lighting Design or Architectural Engineering or Architecture or Interior Design or Theatrical Lighting or related education and experience
  • 7-10 years’ experience
  • Certification in Lighting Design (e.g. LC) or certification related to their field / degree
  • LEED BD+C
  • IALD professional level or is endeavoring to obtain
  • Participate in industry related professional organizations locally

 

Appropriate travel documentation for US air travel (air travel may not be expected if there are medical reasons, etc).

 

Compensation

 

$98,100 to $108,500

 

The final agreed upon compensation is based on cost of living, individual education, qualifications, and experience.
