    Position Summary:
    The Human Resources Intern provides administrative and clerical support to the Human Resources Department during a temporary assignment from May 2026 through August 2026. This position assists with daily office operations, personnel file maintenance, document preparation, and confidential recordkeeping while supporting HR staff in maintaining an efficient and organized work environment. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, dependable, professional, and capable of handling sensitive information with discretion. This role offers valuable hands-on experience in human resources and general office procedures for students or individuals seeking to expand their administrative skills.


    Essential Functions

    The following duties are illustrative and not intended to be a comprehensive list of all responsibilities assigned to this position:

    • Collect and distribute incoming mail to appropriate office personnel.
    • Type and prepare forms, memos, correspondence, labels, and personnel cards.
    • File employment-related documents and maintain accurate, up-to-date personnel records for all employee groups.
    • Update and maintain personnel cards with current employee information.
    • Copy employee file contents for Legal Services as required by court requests.
    • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive human resources and organizational information.
    • Demonstrate regular attendance and punctuality.
    • Assist HR personnel and office staff as needed to support efficient departmental operations.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    Knowledge of:

    • General office and clerical procedures
    • Customer service methods and best practices
    • Microsoft Office Suite
    • Basic filing systems and recordkeeping principles 

    Ability to:

    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, students, parents, and the public
    • Manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously
    • Work independently with minimal supervision
    • Perform effectively under pressure and frequent interruptions  
    • Maintain strict confidentiality of HR and employee information 

    Education and Experience

    • High School Diploma or G.E.D. required
    • Current enrollment in high school or college with satisfactory academic and behavioral standing preferred
    • Minimum of two years of human resources or general office experience preferred

    Physical Demands

    This position primarily involves sedentary work, requiring the ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects.
