PROFILE OF A LIBERTY HILL EDUCATOR
Liberty Hill ISD Educators are compassionate leaders, effective collaborators, adaptable thinkers,
determined problem-solvers, and skilled communicators.
PRIMARY PURPOSE
Ensure safe and orderly transportation of students on the assigned route. Operate a school bus that
transports students and other authorized personnel to and from schools or other designated locations.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification
● Valid Texas commercial driver’s license (Class B) with Passenger & School Bus
Endorsements.
● Driving records must meet State point requirements and district standards for driving
district vehicles.
● Must pass a physical, including drug and alcohol test.
● Must be 18 years of age.
● Must complete required bus driver certification.
● Maintain Bus Safety Certification.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
● Knowledge of student discipline procedures.
● Ability to follow written and verbal instructions; communicate effectively; and manage
student behavior.
Experience
● Class C Driver's License, and at least 3 years of driving experience.

Job Description: Bus Driver
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
● Follow the assigned route and adhere to established schedules.
● Drive bus to and from extracurricular activities.
● Check the bus for mechanical defects before and after each operation and notify the
supervisor of needed repairs.
● Report all accidents, vehicle damage, student injuries, and mechanical failures. Complete
required reports.
● Keep the assigned bus clean and fueled.
● Supervise students while they board and leave the bus and cross the street.
● Communicate with transportation staff on a routine basis regarding student behavior while
on the bus.
● Maintain discipline; report student discipline problems to appropriate administrators.
● Instruct students on safe riding rules and regulations.
● Observe all traffic laws and safety regulations for school buses.
● Inspect the bus by checking fuel, oil, water, tires, lights, brakes, and steering to ensure the
bus can be operated safely before driving.
● Ensure proper condition of emergency equipment, such as first aid kit, fire extinguisher,
flags, fuses, crow bar, and reflector.
● Correct unsafe conditions in the work area that could cause an accident and inform the
supervisor of any conditions that are not correctable immediately.
● Report any hazardous conditions along the route.
● Operate two-way radio equipment to communicate with the transportation office.
● Work irregular hours as needed.
● Attend all In-Service, Professional Development days and all Safety Meetings.
● Keeps records on bus mileage, gas and oil consumption, and number of passengers
transported.
● Perform other duties as assigned.
MENTAL/PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
● Tools/Equipment Used: Operate school bus; two-way radio; global positioning system
(GPS); safety equipment including but not limited to flares, reflective signs, and fire
extinguisher.
● Posture: Prolonged sitting; frequent standing and twisting; occasional kneeling/squatting,
bending, stooping, and pushing/pulling.
● Motion: Prolonged driving; moderate walking; frequent climbing stairs, grasping/squeezing,
wrist and shoulder flexion/extension, and reaching.

● Lifting: Limited light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds) on a daily basis.
● Environment: Frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, noise, and vehicle
fumes; work around moving vehicles; regularly work irregular hours, and occasionally work
