Description

Quality programs start with quality coaches. The Academy expects coaches to act as Christian role models and be Christ-like ambassadors for the school. Coaches should be committed to fulfilling the mission of the school, helping students grow in their relationship with God and their sport, and have a deep passion and knowledge of their sport.The employee shall perform the duties outlined in the following job description as well as other duties, within reason, as may be assigned by the Administration.



DIRECT REPORT: Head Coach/ Athletic Director



PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:The head coach and assistant coach collaborate in the total scope of the program. 



Works harmoniously and cooperatively with the head coach, other assistants, and other athletic department personnel.



Carries through on all assigned tasks and reports on them to the head coach.



Demonstrates loyalty to the athletic program



Values every player –independent of their ability –as God’s image bearer



Show respect and grace towards officials and opposing players and coaches



Maintain humility in victory and defeat



Accepts responsibility for teaching and exhibiting proper behavior, conduct and decorum on and off the athletic field or court



Serves through the complete season for one sport before beginning a new one



Is present and on time for all events, including practices, unless excused or when emergency arises



Supervises athletes during all practices/games/matches and until the building and facilities are locked and secured after the conclusion of an event.



Assist in the planning and running of practices 



Aids head coach in consistent communication to players and families regarding practice and game schedule as well as other team mattersAssists in inventory, distribution, and collection of uniforms and equipment from students



When appropriate, works with Grammar and/or Community coaches to develop a consistent program in which student-athletes try out for teamsAttend professional development opportunities and Athletic Department activities that promote professional growth in the coaching area. 



Help organize and promote Spring/Summer programs (team camps, skills camps, summer workouts, etc.)



Help to actively promote The Academy Athletic Department within the district
