PHYSICAL WELFARE AIDE - LHS
Overview: This position serves as a resource to the Physical Welfare department.
Reports to: Physical Welfare Department Chair

Calendar: 184 Teacher Attendance Days, 7:45am - 3:45pm
Qualifications: Education and experience equivalent to high school graduation
Current Lifeguard Certification/Lifeguard Instructor preferred
Illinois Paraprofessional license required
Professional/Personal Characteristics:
- Previous experience in an educational setting preferred
- Excellent organizational skills and time management skills
- Ability to perform multiple tasks concurrently under varying deadlines
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to identify sensitive information and maintain confidentiality
- Proficient with Google G-Suite, office and phone equipment
- Ability to work as part of an educational team to support the needs of individual or groups of students
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist teaching in the Physical Welfare Department courses taught in the gym and outside facilities, including Lifeguard Training, when needed.
- Provide assistance to students during instruction and while engaging in learning activities
- Assist Physical Welfare Department Chairman and teaching staff with equipment, data collection, and general class and office details. Assist Aquatic Director and Athletic Department with pool related issues.
- Lifeguard for all classes in the pool and assist teachers in supervising all Physical Welfare classes that are in the pool in order to provide a safe and secure environment in compliance with school protocol and Red Cross standards of care
- Manage the weightroom, locker rooms and pool deck spaces, including stocking of supplies, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and identifying safety issues that need maintenance with the Aquatic Director and Athletic Director.
- Assist department in equipment set up for classes in the pool , in regular gym areas, or for aquatic competitions, and monitoring of equipment for proper functioning and perform minor repairs as needed. Contact companies in regards to equipment for repair or other needs.
- Assist teachers with fitness testing and Polar Heart Rate Monitor usage, as well as compiling data from fitness scores.
- Additional duties may be assigned by the supervisor
