We are currently seeking a Legal Support Assistant to work directly with attorneys and legal practice assistants to gain hands-on, practical legal support experience. This is an excellent opportunity for an entry-level candidate. Employees typically invest two years in this position to develop the skills necessary for advancing to other open positions within the firm.  

The ideal candidate is a collaborative self-starter with the desire to gain hands-on experience within the firm.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Learn firm systems such as Aderant Time, ChromeRiver, NetDocuments, and inTapp by regularly attending IT training programs.  
  • Learn how to enter and review time entries in Aderant.
  • Learn how to process and review expense reimbursements and check requests using ChromeRiver.
  • Learn how to utilize programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Nuance to create and edit materials.
  • Learn how to use Rendezvous and Outlook calendaring to coordinate and arrange meetings and conference calls, including booking conference rooms, arranging catering and/or technology needs and sending calendar invites.
  • Learn how to draft and type correspondence, memoranda and other documents, and how to navigate and search NetDocuments to find previously created templates.
  • Learn how to use office equipment to perform general office duties such as scanning, copying, collating and assembling documents.
  • Provide a high level of customer service to internal and external clients.
  • Demonstrate effective teamwork and provide overflow assistance to legal practice assistants as needed/requested.
  • Provide front desk coverage and assist with the preparation and delivery of outgoing U.S. mail and interoffice mail in the Receptionist's absence.
  • Assist with special projects as requested.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any field or an associate degree with a major in paralegal studies. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Possess interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate in person, by email and telephone and follow instructions effectively from a diverse group of attorneys, managers and business professionals.
  • Excellent grammar, spelling, research, and writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently, self-starter and demonstrate initiative.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively with others in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to shift attention from one area of work to another quickly and effectively.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to quickly become proficient in the firm’s computer applications and the use of office equipment.
