We are seeking an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to lead and support a diverse portfolio of water resources and land development projects in the Sacramento Valley and surrounding regions. This role is ideal for a technically strong engineer who enjoys hands‑on project involvement, mentoring staff, and working closely with municipalities and developers to deliver infrastructure that supports growing communities.
The Senior Engineer will play a key role in project delivery, technical oversight, and client coordination, with opportunities to influence project direction and support the continued growth of water and land development practice.
What You'll Do:
- Lead technical design, modeling, and analysis for engineering projects
- Prepare and review engineering drawings, specifications, and reports
- Oversee field investigations, data collection, and construction oversight
- Develop project scopes, budgets, and schedules in collaboration with project managers
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and environmental regulations
- Mentor junior engineers and support team development
- Participate in client meetings and contribute to proposal and business development efforts
Primarily office-based with regular field visits
May involve travel to project sites and client meetings
Fieldwork may include exposure to varying weather and terrain conditions
What You'll Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, or a related field
- 8-12 years of industry experience with water resources and land development projects
- PE license in California
- PLS or GE certification is preferred
- Advanced knowledge of engineering principles, modeling tools, and design software (CAD)
- Experience mentoring junior staff and guiding project teams
- Strong written and verbal communication for technical documentation and client interaction
- Ability to manage complex projects, budgets, and timelines
- Analytical thinking and decision-making in both field and office settings
Salary Range:
At Verdantas, we offer comprehensive benefits packages for our employees. Actual salary is based on the circumstances of each position and candidate, such as geographic location, skills, and certifications. We recognize and reward exceptional performance and strive to ensure fair compensation across all roles and departments within the company. The minimum salary for this position is $150,000 (negotiable based on the criteria presented above).
