    Starting Wage: $21.31+ per hour (based on experience)

    This position is full time, 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday, year round.  Benefits, paid time off and paid vacation are included.  

    Purpose of Position
    :
    The purpose of this position is to perform general custodial and buildings and grounds maintenance functions.
     
    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
    The following duties are normal for this position.  These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive.  Other duties may be required and assigned.
    1. Perform general custodial duties including cleaning kitchen, cafeteria, classrooms, halls, windows, bathrooms, etc.  Maintains building lights.  Removes garbage and other refuse
    2. Respond to requests for assistance from principal, teachers and others and assist with building lockdown and emergency code procedures as directed
    3. Perform minor repairs and routine maintenance to buildings and equipment
    4. Maintain heating equipment
    5. Direct the activities of custodial and seasonal staff; prepares work schedules and coordinates employees for overtime with the supervisor of Buildings & Grounds or designee.
    6. Maintain building grounds; coordinates and performs snow removal and seasonal maintenance with other employees as necessary
    7. Secure building doors
    8. Maintain lockers; changes locker combinations as required
    9. Coordinate and perform set up of equipment for athletic and other programs and events
    10. Order custodial supplies as required and replenish supplies including paper and soap dispensers
    11. Coordinate with outside contractors as required
    12. Other duties as assigned by Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds
     
    Minimum Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions:
    High school graduate with one to two years of custodial and building and grounds maintenance experience, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.  Must posses a valid driver’s license.
     
    Minimum Physical and Mental Abilities Required to Perform Essential Job Functions:
    Physical Requirements
    • Ability to operate a variety of custodial, buildings and grounds maintenance equipment including mowers, snow blower, floor scrubber, washing machine, extractor, floor buffer, vacuum cleaner, etc.
    • Ability to use a variety of mechanics tools, including power tools
    • Ability to lift and maneuver objects weighing up to 50 pounds
    • Must have current physical on file with the District Office certifying applicant is able to meet all job qualifications

    • Ability to assign, supervise, and review the work of others including seasonal
    Mathematical Ability
    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide and calculate decimals and percentages
    Language Ability and Interpersonal Communication
    1. Ability to comprehend, interpret and/or prepare a variety of documents, including work orders, time cards, building use permits, boiler test reports, pest control reports, maintenance requests, generator test records, fire inspection reports, blueprints and other building schematics, custodial handbook, boiler handbook, equipment manuals, etc.
    2. Ability to prepare a variety of documents including bills, boiler tests, time cards, generator tests, supply requisitions, maintenance requests, etc. using prescribed format and conforming to all rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style
    3. Ability to record and deliver information, explain procedures, and follow instructions
    4. Ability to communicate effectively with teachers, students, parents, administrators, service technicians, custodial staff, sales representatives, delivery persons, police officers, School Board members, nurses, the general public, and others verbally and in writing
    5. Ability to use technology to accomplish job responsibilities that may include basic knowledge of e-mail, word processing, and spreadsheet software
