Job Title: Psychology Faculty, Part-time


Reporting Relationship: Chair, Division of Behavioral Sciences


Department: Division of Behavioral Sciences - IWUM


Campus Location: Marion, Indiana 





Summary of Position:    Indiana Wesleyan University invites applications for a part-time Psychology faculty position within the Division of Behavioral Sciences on our residential campus in Marion, Indiana. This position is designed for a Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) seeking to contribute to undergraduate education and program development within a collaborative and mission-driven Christian higher education context. Candidate will demonstrate a passion for preparing students for professional roles supporting children and families, along with significant experience in healthcare or medical settings.

The ideal candidate will combine teaching with scholarly endeavors. Applicants should show evidence of personal faith in Jesus Christ, comfort with the Wesleyan-Arminian theology, and commitment to liberal arts learning and the integration of Christian faith and learning.

Start date beginning July 1, 2026

Duties and Responsibilities



  • Teaching two undergraduate courses per semester in Child Life and related areas

  • Contributing to the development and refinement of the Child Life specialization

  • Assisting with the alignment of curriculum to professional certification standards

  • Mentoring students in their academic, professional, and spiritual development

  • Collaborating with colleagues in curriculum development and program initiatives


Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.






Education



  • Master’s degree required in Child Life, Child Development, Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or a closely related field

  • Certification as a Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) required and must be maintained in good standing


Experience



  • Prior undergraduate teaching experience preferred

  • Prior experience in pediatric healthcare, child life programming, or related applied settings is strongly preferred

  • Interdisciplinary training or experience relevant to holistic care, family systems, or faith-integrated practice are encouraged to apply


Required Skills



  • Demonstrate academic and/or professional preparation in child and family development, psychosocial care, or related areas is expected
