Durand Middle School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to serve as a Middle School Cross Country Coach for the upcoming seasonal sports program. Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive training program that focuses on skill development, physical fitness, and team cohesion.
- Organize and conduct daily practice sessions, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all participants.
- Plan and oversee participation in scheduled meets and competitions, including transportation and logistics.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance and progress of student-athletes, providing constructive feedback and encouragement.
- Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes respect, teamwork, and personal growth.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding team activities, schedules, and individual athlete progress.
- Ensure compliance with school policies, safety protocols, and guidelines set by the district and relevant athletic associations.
- Collaborate with school administration and other staff to promote the cross country program and encourage student participation.
- Attend coaching clinics and workshops as necessary to stay updated on best practices in coaching and athlete development.
Requirements
- Knowledge of training techniques, race strategies, and injury prevention for middle school athletes.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to motivate and inspire young athletes, fostering a love for running and physical fitness.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including afternoons, evenings, and weekends, to accommodate practice and meet schedules.
- A commitment to promoting a positive and inclusive team environment for all participants, parents, and staff.
- Must pass a background check as required by school district policies.
