Job Description

Position Overview: 

This trainee position will learn how to set up and operate a variety of woodworking machines and will use various hand tools to gain knowledge of how to fabricate and repair aircraft interior components and high-grade furniture by performing the following duties.

 

  • Learn to work off computer drawings for articles to be fabricated
  • Learn to set up and operate woodworking machines such as power saws, jointer to cut as required
  • Learn to trim component parts of joints to ensure snug fit
  • Learn how to bore holes for inserts, pins and screws
  • Learn to glue, fit, and clamps parts and subassemblies together to form complete unit
  • Learn to drive fasteners into joints at designated places to reinforce joints
  • Learn how to install hardware such as hinges, catches, and drawer pulls
  • Other duties may be assigned

Preferred Education, Skills and Experience:

  1. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent combination of education and experience
  2. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs

 

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

 

Working conditions are normal for that of a manufacturing/machine shop/office environment.
