Alleghany Highlands Community Services provides services and support to individuals in our community with behavioral health challenges and intellectual and developmental disabilities. The CNA provides services to adults with moderate to profound intellectual disabilities. This staff position is responsible to manage, supervise and provide direct care to individuals in the ICF/IID residential facility (Merryfield Residence).
REQUIREMENTS
- HS diploma or GED (required)
- Must be a Virginia licensed CNA OR willing to become licensed within 6 months of hire.
- 1 year of similar experience (preferred)
- Certification in CPR, basic First Aid, and medication administration (required but can be obtained upon hire)
- Valid driver's license and meet requirements of motor vehicle check, drug/alcohol testing and child abuse/neglect with the Va. Dept. of Social Services (required)
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensures optimal health and safety of residents while encouraging independence and appropriate risk taking.
- Develop, implement and supervises community integration and acceptance.
- Teach targeted skills in a variety of settings. Assist with medication administration, allowed lab work and vital sign monitoring
- This is a 24 hour facility and requires employees to supervise residents at all times. This requires employees constant attention to detail and alertness. All shifts, to include day, evening and overnight, are awake positions.
