Job Overview   

  

The Field Service Technician is responsible for providing customer site support for PeroxyChem’s Spectrum & Blitz microbial control program. For our customers in the protein processing industry, the technician will perform hands-on functions related to survey, design, fabrication, installation, and maintenance of peracetic acid, GRAS organic acids, and related chemistries storage and handling systems at customer site visits to monitor equipment and perform preventative or necessary maintenance will include a walk-through of the slaughter plant, system checks, relationship building with plant and safety managers, operations observations across multiple shifts, troubleshooting and more.  

 

Requirements & Qualifications   

  • BA/BS degree desired. Specific experience in the poultry, beef, or food processing industry, specifically maintenance related positions, may substitute for education requirements  
  • Experience with PLCs and automated equipment desirable  
  • Technical service in the food processing industry, or meat processing equipment manufacturer   
  • Experience in meat and poultry market strongly preferred  
  • Strong understanding of operational time demands and sense of urgency as it pertains to the protein slaughter industry  
  • Demonstrated ability to write and present clear and information business and technical information  
  • Willingness to travel up to 70% of the time and work non-traditional work hours such as weekends

Duties & Responsibilities   

Technical Support   

  • To provide routine and emergency support and maintenance for peracetic acid and caustic handling systems deployed at customer sites  
  • To maintain an ongoing understanding of regulations as they pertain to PeroxyChem products and applications  
  • To assist in performing plant surveys and assist in the development and design of suitable application, automation and control, and delivery systems  
  • To provide field suport for plant start-ups including coordination of customer and third-party resources  
  • To perform and log titration data to confirm microbial efficacy  
  • To understand and address consumption factors    

Technical Sales Support   

  • To build relationships with plant maintenance, quality assurance and production personnel   
  • Provides requested product or equipment information to customer service or sales team for billing purposes  
  • To provide competitive market intelligence and transfer this knowledge to organization   

Equipment   

  • To perform tasks related to use of dosing systems and automated control systems from survey, scope and preparation, to installation and operation  
  • To perform mechanical tasks such as pipe fitting, instrument installation and fabrication  
  • Manages and adjusts automated systems to optimize delivery systems  
  • To work internally in order to coordinate on-time delivery of PeroxyChem equipment to plants  
  • To assist and perform in scheduling preventative maintenance services on PeroxyChem owned equipment  
  • To assemble and install Peracetic acid and caustic pumping equipment, trial equipment and customer equipment    

Communications   

  • To provide customer training, overisght and technical service including elements of safety, process safety, product use, storage and handling  
  • To share information on a timely basis in support of protein team activities  
  • To coordinate field activities with internal peroxychem departments, customer and third-party contractors   

Environment   

  • Remote office and in-plant (slaughter plant). Exposure to slaughter plant environments for poultry and beef. Being exposed to and handling raw materials and finished products related to the manufacture and use of peracetic acid and other peroxygen compounds. Exposure to the elements (rain, sun, humidity etc.). Personal protective equipment is worn as directed.
