POSITION SUMMARY


The Early Childhood Instructional Leader will provide leadership in the development, implementation and evaluation of curricula and programs for infant, toddler and preschool education. This includes scheduling, developing and updating learning experience plans, ensuring that educational opportunities for students are being provided, coordinating procedures for student assessment, technical assistance, assisting with family/parent engagement and providing educational resources to staff.



GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides regular onsite visits to classrooms as scheduled to coach classroom staff and instructional teams utilizing proven effective adult learning practices and coaching methods that conform to state standards.
  • Establishes performance requirements related to instructional practices and assesses the performance of each staff member and instructional team with regard to teaching knowledge in order to coach to their individual level of knowledge.
  • Plans accordingly to ensure ongoing individualized professional growth based on the teaching competency levels of each classroom staff member and instructional team. Develops, implements, reviews and revises action plans for each instructional team, classroom, and staff member and regularly meets with individuals and teams and documents progress.
  • Establishes positive rapport with and provides support to each classroom staff member, site administrator or instructional team to build trust and confidence.
  • Utilizes effective coaching strategies such as modeling, reflection, paraphrasing and questioning techniques.
  • Plans, convenes and organizes professional development activities where indicated, focused on promoting child outcomes and staff expertise. Collaborates with the site administrator to identify topics and schedule.
  • Reviews and evaluates lesson plans to ensure intentional teaching practices are routinely implemented and differentiated instruction is refined.
  • Reviews and provides input to classroom and outdoor spaces to ensure quality early learning environments pursuant to local, state, and national regulations and standards.
  • Provides ongoing, effective communication with program administrator and teachers regarding progress, expectations and results.
  • Guarantee a nurturing, respectful, safe educational environment including conducting ongoing classroom observation and implementation of positive guidance techniques.
  • Ensure coordination of conferences with parents regarding their child’s progress and individual development plans and coordination of educational events for parents a minimum of four times per year.
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned or required.

  • Ensure the consistent accurate collection of the data
  • Identify patterns and trends for program
  • Use results of data to inform supervisor of trends that may impact services


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Hold a BA/BS in Early Childhood Education or Child Development or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years experience in Early Childhood
  • Have an understanding of curriculum and assessment of early childhood education
  • Have the personal qualities necessary to support and teach staff
  • Possess the management competencies and criteria established by Catholic Charities for a supervisory role specifically:
    • Proficiency of oral and written communication skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meets timelines.
    • Excellent planning skills and ability to manage details.
    • Skill and experience in motivating and managing personnel.
    • Ability to work well with individuals at all levels, both internally or externally, and works to create a team environment.
  • Have the ability to provide hands-on experiences for modeling and support with curricula, environments, assessments, conferences and behaviors
  • Knowledge of NAEYC criteria and licensing regulations
  • A pre-employment certification of good health, including a documented, negative tuberculin test or normal chest x-ray is required as well as a criminal background check
