About the role.

 

The Sanitation Lead plays a strategic, high-impact role with expanded responsibilities, rigorous qualification standards, and a strong commitment to regulatory compliance and continuous improvement. As a key driver of operational excellence, this position safeguards food safety, upholds the highest quality standards, and ensures efficiency across production and food-processing environments.

 

What you’ll be doing.

 

• Lead, train, and supervise the sanitation team, ensuring strict adherence to cleaning protocols, chemical handling procedures, and safety standards.
• Oversee daily operations, assign tasks, monitor performance, and ensure sanitation schedules are consistently achieved.
• Maintain full compliance with HACCP, GMPs, OSHA regulations, and company policies.
• Ensure accurate documentation, conduct pre-operational inspections, and drive corrective actions to uphold food safety standards.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to support operational efficiency and quickly resolve issues.
• Take a hands-on approach to sanitation tasks, including equipment disassembly and reassembly when required.
• Manage chemical and supply inventory while identifying and implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
• Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and compliance through leadership, coaching, and ongoing training.

 

What you’ll need to be successful.

 

• High school diploma required; sanitarian certification or a relevant bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 2–4+ years of sanitation experience in regulated manufacturing/processing environments, including at least 2 years in a leadership role.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform physically demanding tasks.
• Flexible and reliable, with availability for weekends and overtime as needed.
• Detail-oriented leader with strong communication, people management, and proactive problem-solving skills; bilingual abilities are an asset.
• Solid knowledge of sanitation chemicals, HACCP, GMPs, SOPs/SSOPs, and core food safety principles.
• Comfortable with digital recordkeeping and modern sanitation audit practices.
• Fluent in German and English; additional languages such as French or Dutch are a plus.
