    TITLE:Gifted Education Teacher

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    Camdenton School District is seeking a Gifted Teacher that will provide identified gifted and talented students with appropriate learning experiences and activities that are designed to develop potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth that lead to advanced academic achievement and development of the identified gifted student.  Creating a culture of "Everyone Learning Every Day".

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor's degree in Education, STEM field, or related area
    • Teaching certificate in Gifted Education
    • Pass all background checks and screenings.

    REPORTS TO:  Building Principal and Student Services Director

    GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:  Board Policy for Staff Conduct 

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Develop and implement specialized curricula, accelerated learning, and enrichment activities tailored for gifted learners.
    • Differentiate instruction to meet the unique cognitive needs of gifted and talented students, focusing on problem-solving and critical thinking.
    • Develop lessons that encourage taking intellectual risks, embracing failure, and developing perseverance.
    • Embed creative and critical thinking skills in written curriculum to match learning pace with complex challenges.
    • Address unique gifted needs like perfectionism, asynchronous development, and peer relationships.
    • Collaborate with general education teachers to differentiate curriculum, and consult with families regarding student progress.
    • Participate in the gifted screening, testing, and identification process for students using standardized data and portfolio assessments.
    • Monitor student progress, grade projects, and provide feedback to parents.

    Additional Duties: 

    Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Building Principal, Student Services Director and other Central Office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.  

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:    

    • 9 month contract (179 days)
    • Salary Schedule - commensurate with education and experience - base salary starts at $43,500

    EVALUATION:    

    Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's Policy on Evaluation of Professional Staff (teachers).
