Position Summary

The Program Director of HVAC oversees the planning, development, delivery, and continuous

improvement of the HVAC training program. This role ensures that curriculum, instruction, and

hands-on training align with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and institutional goals.

The Program Director provides leadership to faculty, supports student success, and maintains

strong relationships with employers and industry partners.

Key Responsibilities

Program Leadership & Administration

• Direct the daily operations of the HVAC program, including scheduling, staffing, and

resource allocation.

• Ensure compliance with institutional policies, state and federal regulations, and

accreditation standards.

• Maintain program documentation, reports, and performance metrics.

• Lead program reviews and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

Curriculum & Instructional Oversight

• Develop, update, and maintain HVAC curriculum that reflects current technologies,

codes, and best practices.

• Oversee the setup, maintenance, and safety of HVAC labs, tools, and training equipment.

• Support instructors in delivering high-quality, student-centered instruction.

• Conduct classroom observations and ensure instructional consistency.

Faculty Management & Development

• Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate HVAC instructors and support staff.

• Provide coaching, mentorship, and professional development opportunities.

• Foster a collaborative teaching environment focused on student learning and industry

relevance.

Student Success & Support

• Promote a positive, inclusive learning environment that supports retention, completion,

and job readiness.

• Assist with student advising, academic concerns, and conflict resolution when needed.

• Collaborate with Career Services to support externships, job placement, and employer

engagement.

Industry & Community Engagement

• Build and maintain partnerships with HVAC employers, contractors, unions, and industry

associations.

• Coordinate advisory board meetings and integrate industry feedback into program

improvements.

• Represent the program at community events, workforce development meetings, and

industry functions.

Budget & Resource Management

• Develop and manage program budgets, including equipment purchases and inventory.

• Ensure labs and classrooms meet safety, operational, and instructional standards.

• Identify opportunities for program expansion, grants, and partnerships.
