About the Department
The Learning Resource Center Director directs, manages and coordinates activities and functions of the Learning Resource Center. Policy creation and implementation, supervision of two full-time, up to three part-time staff and two student workers, collection development, yearly IPEDS reporting, and maintaining SACCOC accreditation requirements for the college's LRC are major functions of this position.
Position Duties

The LRC Director plans and develops an effective learning resources program that supports the mission of Halifax Community College. The Director supervises two full time LRC technical positions, three part time positions, . In addition, the Director is the supervisor for any HCC student workers that are employed through Financial Aid work study or PRIDE work study.

The Director is responsible for the LRC’s collection development; policy creation and implementation; managing the budget; providing instruction for classes and/or HCC instructors; maintaining an environment conducive to learning; representing the LRC within the college, community college system, local community, and general public; reporting IPEDS yearly, and upholding SACSCOC standards.

Support the College Strategic Plan, Assessment, IE, QEP, and SACSCOC Requirements/Principles.

Support retention and advising.

The Director maintains appropriate annual professional development opportunities for professional growth.

Minimum Qualifications
Required: Master of Library Science degree from an ALA accredited institution
Preferred: Experience working in an academic, public school, community college, or university library setting; Experience with Open Educational Resources (OER); Supervisory experience
