At Medtronic you can begin a life-long career of exploration and innovation, while helping champion healthcare access and equity for all. You’ll lead with purpose, breaking down barriers to innovation in a more connected, compassionate world.

A Day in the Life

Peripheral Vascular Health (PVH) is an exciting and dynamic business with annual revenue exceeding $1 billion and many high growth segments/therapy areas. There are significant clinical unmet needs and many promising potential solutions that need to be evaluated and/or advanced.

At Medtronic, we bring bold ideas forward with speed and decisiveness to put patients first in everything we do. In-person exchanges are invaluable to our work. We’re working a minimum of 4 days a week onsite as part of our commitment to fostering a culture of professional growth and cross-functional collaboration as we work together to engineer the extraordinary.

We are seeking a Principal Upstream Marketing Specialist to shape the future of our Peripheral Vascular portfolio, with a focus on embolization and superficial venous therapies. This role sits at the intersection of clinical insight, market strategy, and product innovation, serving as a core member of early‑stage development teams and playing a pivotal role in defining where—and how—we invest next. This is a highly visible, senior‑level position designed for someone who thrives in ambiguity and can translate customer insight into winning pipeline strategies and differentiated product concepts. The role will report into the Sr. Director of Pipeline Marketing within the Peripheral Vascular Health operating unit.

A Day in the Life

  • Shape the future pipeline for embolization and superficial venous therapies by serving as the upstream marketing lead on new product development teams.
  • Build and own market, business, and financial models to evaluate new opportunities, platform extensions, and line enhancements—including market sizing, adoption curves, pricing, revenue forecasts, and investment tradeoffs.
  • Identify and prioritize growth opportunities by translating physician unmet needs, VoC insights, and market dynamics into clear product and portfolio strategies.
  • Build and leverage strong KOL and physician relationships to inform opportunity assessments, concept development, and strategic direction.
  • Own competitive and market intelligence, anticipating disruptive moves and developing approaches to differentiate against current and emerging competitors.
  • Influence crossfunctional teams (R&D, Strategy, BD, Downstream Marketing, Medical, Clinical, Regulatory, Finance, Sales) to convert customer needs into feasible, highimpact development programs.
  • Champion the PVH pipeline by engaging internal and external stakeholders to increase awareness of current and future development efforts.
  • Assess commercial viability and longterm value creation, partnering with Finance and Strategy to inform portfolio prioritization and investment decisions.
  • Provide technical and clinical expertise, supporting product demonstrations, early evaluations, and issue resolution as needed.
  • Foster a diverse and inclusive workplace that enables high performance, enriches PVH culture, spurs innovation and strengthens relationships with colleagues, communities, and customers.
  • Build quality into all aspects of work by maintaining compliance to all quality requirements.

Must Have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 7 years’ experience in a marketing, sales, strategy, or related field; or 5 years with advanced degree.

Nice to Have:

  • Advanced degree (MBA, MS, or PhD)
  • Strong market modeling and business acumen
  • Upstream marketing experience in medical devices, ideally within peripheral vascular, embolization, venous disease, or adjacent interventional therapies
  • Demonstrated success influencing earlystage innovation and pipeline strategy in a matrixed, crossfunctional environment.
  • Adaptability: an interest or ability to flex further up- or down-stream as needed (Diligence, Commercial or Market Development Plans, etc.)
  • Deep understanding of physician decisionmaking, procedural workflows, and market adoption dynamics.
  • Proven ability to build credibility with physicians, KOLs, engineers, and executive stakeholders.
  • Experience operating within regulated environments, with working knowledge of design controls and commercialization pathways.
  • Strong business storytelling skills; comfort presenting to leadership
  • Has worked in or with geographies outside of the United States

Physical requirement:

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally in support of customer engagements and internal Medtronic activities.
  • Ability to travel 25% of the time.

For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.
