Position Summary:

The PRN Residential Counselor is responsible for supporting individuals with developmental disabilities in a community-based home. You will provide assistance to the individuals in the development of linkages to the community through recreation planning, transportation, accompaniment to community-based events, and in personal care as needed.  Other responsibilities include providing assistance with household maintenance, budgetary/financial management, shopping, and meal preparation.

 

** $1,000 Sign on Bonus ** 

Working hours/days: PRN / As Needed. Must be available to work at least 2 shifts per month. Days and hours may vary. Please note: This is not a full-time position

Location: Residential homes within Prince George's County

 

Key Responsibilities:

Healthcare & Medication Support

  • Implement nursing plans and follow medical recommendations

  • Administer medications in compliance with regulations

  • Accompany individuals to medical appointments and provide accurate medical information

  • Observe, document, and report medical concerns in a timely manner

Individual Plan & Behavioral Support

  • Review and follow Individual and Behavior Support Plans

  • Accurately document outcomes, target behaviors, and progress

  • Apply behavior support strategies consistently

Incident Reporting & Safety

  • Respond appropriately to incidents or injuries

  • Complete incident reports accurately and promptly per agency policy

  • Maintain awareness of safety practices at all times

Community Integration

  • Plan and support participation in recreational, leisure, and community activities

  • Provide transportation to appointments, activities, and places of worship as needed

  • Encourage healthy lifestyles, exercise, and social engagement

  • Promote family involvement and collaboration

Personal Care

  • Assist with personal hygiene, grooming, and daily living activities as needed

  • Provide guidance and monitoring to encourage independence

  • Support medical treatments and medication assistance when required

Financial Support

  • Assist individuals with budgeting and responsible money management

  • Support banking activities per Individual Plan guidelines

Communication & Documentation

  • Communicate respectfully and effectively with individuals, families, and team members

  • Complete all documentation clearly, accurately, and on time

  • Train and support relief staff as needed

  • Accurately record work hours and mileage

Household Maintenance

  • Perform routine household tasks and cleaning

  • Prepare meals based on individual preferences and dietary needs

  • Maintain a safe, comfortable, and welcoming home environment

  • Assist with minor household upkeep tasks as needed

Professionalism & Teamwork

  • Model positive, professional behavior aligned with agency values

  • Maintain confidentiality at all times

  • Complete required trainings and updates on time

  • Be punctual, dependable, and reliable

  • Work collaboratively as part of a team
