Job Description

Are you currently studying and enrolled in a technical master degree? Are you looking for a meaningful summer job? At Mycronic, you get a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience at a global high-tech company at the forefront of technology.  Planning the production and R&D activities of the Mycronic systems is a complex process, involving multiple, intertwined perspectives and decision making on several levels. With this summer job, you contribute to the software development and system design of the planning and dashboard system.

About Mycronic

Mycronic is a global high-tech company whose innovative solutions have been advancing electronics technology for over 40 years. Today we continue to grow and serve customers in an expanding variety of industries. What we do impacts the future of technology, and in turn, the way we live our lives tomorrow.

We’re looking for people to join our talented, motivated and friendly team on the cutting-edge. Here, in an open, collaborative and flexible environment, you’ll work alongside leading industry experts and take on challenging projects that bring tomorrow’s electronics to life.

Background

In Mycronic’s head quarters in Täby, mask writers for the entire world are developed, designed, and built. Today, no other company can compete with Mycronic's mask writers. Our machines are used in the manufacturing of nearly all displays — from TVs and laptops to smartwatches and car infotainment systems — and even in semiconductor production. The process for the manufacturing happens at a nanometer level, smaller than blood cells and viruses.

For all of this to be possible, a great emphasis is put on the quality of software and hardware, but also in the way we work and the environment the systems operate in. To improve the latter parts, we strive to increase visibility of resources and make our internal communication more clear.

Description

This summer job is part of an ongoing project of visualizing production flows, up-to-date information about activities, and supporting planning of all activities. You will work together with other developers in a small team and impact the design decisions. Further, you will rapidly develop and evaluate new features and functionality, using real data and feedback from internal stakeholders. The goal for the summer is to progress even further towards a common platform for several Mycronic groups, for improved transparency and utilization of production space, time, and human resources.

Examples of summer job activities:

  • Design and evaluate features for effective communication and navigation
  • Implement rulesets to automate or assist in planning
  • Work on API functionality to communicate with other in-house applications
  • Iterate features based on user feedback

The specific topics of the summer work projects will be decided at the start of the projects. The topics can also be adapted to the interests and background of individual summer workers.

The duration of the summer work is 8-12 weeks, and the location is primarily at Mycronic’s headquarters in Täby just outside of Stockholm.

Requirements

  • Fluency in programming for the web, especially with frameworks for reactive systems.
  • Higher technical studies at a university or college are a prerequisite and a requirement.
  • Experience with SvelteKit, PostgreSQL and Jira is meritorious. This also applies to experience of planning systems – as a user or developer.
