Job Summary
The
Project Manager supports the Marine Education Center (MEC) by coordinating
projects and programs focused on ocean science and environmental literacy. This
position administers selected MEC projects and seeks funding to support new
initiatives. The role includes active engagement with project partners and
participants to provide mentoring experiences that build capacity for student
participation in marine research and support workforce development in ocean
science.

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Administers externally funded
    projects, including implementation, evaluation, staff supervision,
    recordkeeping, reporting, and budget management.
  2. Assists in developing proposals
    to support new MEC programs and partnerships.
  3. Applies evidence-based practices
    to communicate science and engage a broad range of audiences in
    experiential education.
  4. Interacts with existing project
    partners and assists in developing new partnerships across academic,
    research, industry, and nonprofit organizations; communicates project
    findings at national conferences.
  5. Works collaboratively with team
    members to conduct outreach and occasionally instruct programs related to
    environmental science and organizational activities.
  6. Maintains certifications in
    Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), first aid, water safety, and safe
    conduct of minors on campus.
  7. Performs other duties as
    assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s
degree from an accredited college or university in science, technology,
engineering, mathematics or a related field. Three (3) years of experience
working collaboratively with others in a professional setting. Must have a
valid driver’s license.

  • Ability to present information effectively and respond to questions from various audiences. 
  • Ability to recruit, engage, and retain participation in recurring group instruction.
  • Ability to maintain telepresence capabilities using a variety of software and hardware.
  • Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as needed, including overnight travel. 

Preferred Qualifications
Master’s
degree from an accredited college or university in science, technology,
engineering, mathematics or a related field. Three (3) years of
experience in student engagement or grant writing.
