Description

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Digital Communications Project Manager. This role manages the development and dissemination of digital content across web, multimedia, and visual platforms to communicate agency-funded research, agency priorities, and scientific achievements to diverse audiences including Congress, the research community, the media, and the general public. The position serves as the central coordinator for digital communications projects and leads interdisciplinary teams responsible for website design and management, photography, graphic design, scientific illustration, multimedia production, and digital storytelling. The Digital Communications Project Manager ensures that digital content aligns with the Federal Agency’s mission, maintains high editorial and visual standards, and adheres to federal accessibility and communication requirements.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Provide oversight for a team of digital communications professionals for work supporting graphic design, scientific illustration, website design and development, website publishing, digital asset management and multimedia research, and photography.
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage digital communications projects that support Agency priorities.
  • Develop project plans, timelines, and workflows for digital communications initiatives.
  • Coordinate across teams, Agency offices, and subject matter experts to ensure accurate and compelling communication of scientific research and agency initiatives.
  • Manage multiple digital content initiatives simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and quality assurance.
  • Oversee the design, development, and ongoing management of Agency digital platforms and web content.
  • Coordinate website updates, redesigns, and content improvements to enhance user experience and accessibility.
  • Ensure web content complies with federal standards, including Section 508 accessibility requirements and digital governance policies.
  • Work with developers and content managers to implement digital tools, multimedia features, and interactive content.
  • Manage the creation and integration of visual and multimedia content including: photography, graphic design, scientific illustration, video, and multimedia storytelling.
  • Ensure visual content accurately reflects scientific concepts and maintains Agency brand and editorial standards.
  • Identify opportunities to highlight Agency-funded discoveries through digital storytelling and multimedia formats. 
  • Support the production of multimedia features, digital campaigns, and research highlights.

Requirements

Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a four-year college in computer science or other closely related discipline.

Qualifications:

  • Five years of professional expert level experience in web development and web design services.

     

  • Expert level experience with HTML, CSS and JavaScript.

  • Expert level experience leading small teams to perform web development services.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferred experience with in the Federal government environment
