Job Description

Position Summary:


The Assistant MS Spring Track & Field Coach is responsible for assisting the Head Coach in the administration, organization, and development of the New Hope-Solebury Middle School Track & Field program. This position supports the District’s mission by promoting academic achievement, athletic participation, sportsmanship, and the personal growth of student-athletes.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:




  • Assist the Head Coach in planning, organizing, and supervising the middle school track and field program in accordance with District policies and applicable league regulations.




  • Support the instruction and supervision of student-athletes during practices, meets, and related team activities.




  • Conduct and assist with practices that emphasize fundamental skill development, conditioning, teamwork, and safe participation.




  • Instruct student-athletes in track and field fundamentals, including running events, relays, and field events as assigned.




  • Help evaluate athlete performance and provide constructive feedback to support individual improvement and team development.




  • Promote and model appropriate conduct, sportsmanship, and respect for teammates, opponents, officials, and the school community.




  • Support the academic success, well-being, and positive development of student-athletes in alignment with District expectations.




  • Assist with meet preparation and management, including warm-ups, event organization, athlete supervision, and equipment setup and breakdown.




  • Communicate effectively and professionally with student-athletes, parents/guardians, administrators, and athletic department staff.




  • Ensure compliance with District policies, league rules, and safety protocols, including supervision, eligibility, and reporting requirements.




  • Uphold and enforce District codes of conduct, team rules, and expectations.




  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Athletic Director.




Qualifications:




  • Prior coaching and/or participation experience in track and field or related athletic programs preferred.




  • Knowledge of basic track and field rules, event techniques, and safety practices.




  • Ability to work effectively with middle school–aged student-athletes in an educational environment.




  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.




  • Ability to collaborate positively with coaches, administrators, and school staff.




  • Completion of required District, league, and state-mandated certifications and clearances.
