JOB TITLE: Certified Physical Therapy Assistant (CPTA)
DEPARTMENT: Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapy Department
JOB RELATIONSHIPS:
Responsible to: Physical Therapist
Responsible for: Physical Therapy Aides
Interrelationships: Works cooperatively with all hospital departments,
Medical Staff and the public.
JOB SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Physical Therapist, performs treatments and provides exercise instructions and demonstrations for inpatients, outpatients, Home Health patients, Nursing Home residents, and school kids.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience: Experience as a CPTA or in the health field preferred, but not necessary
Education: Must be a graduate of a Physical Therapist Assistant program
Req. Cert./ Certified in the State of Kansas or eligible for certification with the
Registration: Kansas State Board of Healing Arts
American Heart CPR Certified
JOB DUTIES (This list may not include all of the duties assigned.)
- Provides treatment as ordered in a safe, timely manner in accordance with the standards of practice for Physical Therapy.
- Maintains equipment in proper working order and adapts the equipment to meet the needs of the patient.
- Communicates with Physicians, other department staff, patients, and family members regarding patient progress, problems and plan.
- Documents the treatment in concise format in accordance with Standards of practice.
- Instructs the patient, family members, or other caregivers in therapeutic procedures and/or exercises to be continued upon discharge.
- Assists in the referral process when additional services are required.
- Supervises the work of the Physical Therapy Aides.
- Requisitions supplies and equipment as needed.
- Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of the latest trends in the field.
- Possess interpersonal skills needed to function in a “team” setting
