Graphic Designer (Maternity Leave)
Position Title: Interim Graphic Designer (maternity leave coverage)
Reports To: Communications Director
Employment Status: One-year contract (32 hours per week)
Position Summary
The Interim Graphic Designer (Maternity Leave Coverage) is responsible for maintaining the quality, consistency, and timeliness of visual communications during a one-year contract period. This role ensures continuity of the church’s established brand standards while supporting ongoing ministry initiatives and seasonal campaigns.
The Interim Graphic Designer translates ministry concepts into clear, professional visual assets across print and digital platforms and works closely with the Communications Director, Content Creator, and Social Media Coordinator to deliver cohesive and effective communications. This position is an in-house, temporary role designed to provide stable and reliable design support during maternity leave coverage.

Key Responsibilities
- Maintain consistency with established brand guidelines and visual standards.
- Design ministry graphics, event materials, promotional assets, slides, and print collateral.
- Prepare and deliver print-ready and digital-ready files.
- Develop templates and reusable design systems for recurring ministry needs.
- Maintain key communications platforms (e.g., websites, newsletters).
- Communicate with ministry leaders and vendors regarding creative needs and specifications.
- Collaborate with team members to integrate graphics into video and social media content.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet established deadlines.
- Organize and maintain digital asset libraries.
Skills & Experience
- You have a degree, diploma, or certificate in Graphic Design or equivalent experience.
- You have 3 or more years of professional design experience.
- You have proficiency in graphic design tools and platforms (e.g., Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Adobe Express, Mailchimp, Planning Centre, Dropbox, etc.).
- You’re familiar with Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Vimeo), Mailchimp, and LinkedIn.
- You’re experienced preparing files for professional printing.
- You have a strong understanding of typography, layout, branding, and visual hierarchy.
