Office Specialist l (Surplus)

The Division of Purchasing and General Services is seeking an Office Specialist for the Surplus Property program. If you are a customer oriented, self-motivated, multi-tasker this could be the job for you!

Salary – $14.39 - $26.08 Hourly Wage

Key Responsibilities

As the Office Specialist for Surplus Property, you will:

  • Process surplus property intake and documents.
  • Research specifications and value of property to be sold/auctioned.
  • Assign sale prices to property.
  • Create and maintain files and records.
  • Answer telephone and assist callers.
  • Process daily incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Order office supplies.
  • Take photos of items to be auctioned.
  • Post and monitor online auctions.
  • Assist the public and others with information on merchandise.
  • Prepare final sale of items.
  • Retrieve sale items to be purchased or photographed. 
  • Inspect and inventory passenger vehicles and heavy equipment outside prior to auction listing.
  • Wash vehicles, charge batteries, and remove snow from vehicles as needed.
  • Minor vehicle maintenance

Position involves working indoors and outdoors throughout the year.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

The best qualified candidate for this position will have at least 1 year of experience:

  • Providing customer service in an office environment. 
  • Utilizing office equipment.
  • Preparing and processing documents.
  • Using Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, and Gmail.

Preferred Qualifications: 

Preference may be given to applicant who are:

  • Highly
    skilled in data manipulation and reporting via MS Access and Excel.
  • Able to use Material Handling Equipment.
