THRIVE Assistant Director – Garden Home Recreation Center

Would you like to enhance your leadership and supervisory skills while supporting and mentoring fellow staff members? Garden Home Recreation Center is seeking candidates for THRIVE Assistant Directors. The THRIVE program serves students from the Beaverton School District in after-school and before-school programs.

  • Provide opportunities for children to have fun, learn, and express themselves through a variety of activities while maintaining a safe environment

Tualatin Hills Park and Recreation District believes that children benefit from friendly and supportive interactions with other children and instructors. The afterschool program strives to provide a fun and educational environment where children have the opportunity to develop talents and recognize their importance both individually and within their community.  


Schedule & Pay

  • Hours are flexibly staffed, Monday – Friday, between 12:30pm - 6:00pm on school days and 7:30am - 6:00pm on no school days, for remainder of school year (June 11th, 2026). Please Hours are flexible throughout the week.
  • The hiring rate for this position is $22.21. The full hourly range for this job classification is $22.21 to $25.04. Staff may be eligible for a merit increase at the end of September.
  • Part-time staff may work variable shifts, up to 1,560 hours annually.
  • The district provides a 5% bilingual pay incentive to staff who regularly use their bilingual or multilingual skills at work.


THRIVE Assistant Director Key Responsibilities

  • Developing and implementing assigned learning curriculum, recreation programs, classes, or activities
  • Working independently within established guidelines to develop, coordinate, supervise, and instruct day-to-day program activities and provide lead direction to assigned part-time staff
  • Coordinating, instructing, supervising, and leading learning and enrichment activities
  • Creating a program atmosphere that promotes inclusion and participant satisfaction
  • Ensuring the safety of participants and providing basic first aid as needed
