- Assists students individually and in small groups to reinforce instruction and implement educational, behavioral, communication, and therapeutic programs under the direction of certified staff and related service providers
- Assists with implementation of student IEP goals, behavior intervention plans, medical plans, and safety procedures
- Supports classroom behavioral management strategies to maintain a safe, structured, and positive learning environment
- Monitors student safety and well-being throughout the school day, including during classroom instruction, transitions, meals, recess, transportation, and community-based activities
- Assists with feeding programs, adaptive equipment, mobility devices, communication systems, sensory supports, and other specialized student supports as directed
- Assists students in non-instructional settings including playground supervision, lunch supervision, bus loading/unloading, hallway transitions, and emergency drills
- Accompanies and assists students during field trips, community activities, and other school-related events as assigned
- Assists teachers and related service staff with preparation, organization, adaptation, and distribution of instructional and support materials
- Maintains documentation and records related to student care, behavior, services, and assigned duties as required
- Participates in IEP meetings, training opportunities, and collaborative team meetings as requested
- Follows all district safety procedures, universal precautions, confidentiality requirements, and regulations related to supporting students with disabilities and specialized health care needs
- Maintains appropriate professional boundaries and demonstrates respect, dignity, and sensitivity toward all students and families
- Performs other duties as assigned by the supervising teacher, principal, nurse, or administration consistent with the position responsibilities

Position Purpose
- Under the direct supervision of a certified staff member, to assist certified professional staff with total care students to provide positive learning experiences in a safe learning enviroment for our students. Expectations of working as a cohesive team to support colleagues and students in a wide variety of tasks throughtout the school day to ensure opportunities for success.

Qualifications Profile
- Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Successful completion of college level coursework (48 credits) or passing of the ParaPro Exam
- Prior experience working with special needs children desirable.
