Job Description
 
  1. SCOPE OF POSITION

To oversee and supervise plant operations and personnel on the off shifts, covering all departments in the plant. This position's major function is to make sure all operations continue to run, with emphasis on the safe operation of the plant and personnel, quality and productivity of all departments and to ensure that orders are run to customer specifications and scrap is kept minimal. This includes print, tubers, webers, sewing, palletizers, bottomers, inspectors, fork grab, feeders, stackers and assisting maintenance when and where necessary.

 

  1. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBLITIES

Within the limits of applicable policies, procedures and established plans, he/she has authority to take action and make decisions.  The assignment of work or delegation or responsibility does not relinquish responsibility for results.  Performance will be measured by the extent to which the responsibilities have been fulfilled.

 

Functional Responsibilities


  • Supervising employees-training, quality, safety, production, orders, issues
  • Communication with Supervisors on other shifts
  • Work and communications with Maintenance regarding equipment and repairs
  • Scheduling shift crews for proper running conditions
  • Assist in assuring HACCP, GMP’s, Work Instructions and Food Safety Quality system requirements (SQF) are in compliance.

 

Managerial Responsibilities


  • Leads, Operators and Production Employees

 

 


 

 

 

  1. KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
  • Maintenance, as needed, to keep machinery and equipment operational and repaired
  • Quality, daily, to ensure product quality
  • Plant Operations Manager/Supervisors, as needed, to communicate issues, problems, status of orders and equipment
  • Day Shift Supervisors/Managers, as needed, for department's status, order status, problems, issues, manning, and equipment status
  • Human Resources, as needed, for personnel issues, problems, policies, procedures, and labor issues

 

  1. FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Regular use of computers, telephones and miscellaneous office equipment
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

  • Some physical effort required

  1. QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

  • Minimum of High School Diploma, or GED, and  
  • 5-7 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment 

Skills

  • Experience in a fast paced manufacturing environment
  • Previous supervisory background
  • Excellent communication, written and verbal
  • Knowledge of computers and manufacturing systems
  • Knowledge of organized labor environments
  • Sound decision making and judgment ability
  • Ability to work successfully with little direct supervision
  • Ability to analyze and trouble shoot machine problems
  • Knowledge of multi-wall bag operation desired
