Job Title -Financial Analyst – Operational Finance (Physician & APP Compensation)

Greater Charlotte Market (GCM)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM (Hybrid) / 3 days in office - 2 days remote


Position Summary

The Financial Analyst – Operational Finance supports the Greater Charlotte Market (GCM) with a primary focus on physician and Advanced Practice Provider (APP) compensation analytics, including Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants. This role partners closely with physicians, APPs, and operational leaders to design, evaluate, and monitor compensation models while providing financial insights that support clinical, operational, and strategic decision-making.

The analyst is responsible for modeling compensation plans, performing variance and look-back analyses, developing pro formas, and clearly communicating complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders. This position serves as a key financial liaison between clinical operations and finance, ensuring compensation structures align with productivity, quality, and organizational goals.


Key Responsibilities

Physician & APP Compensation Support

  • Administer, evaluate, and support physician and APP compensation models, including:

    • RVU-based models

    • Revenue over expense models

    • APV (Alternative Plus Value) compensation structures

  • Develop and maintain financial models to assess new and revised compensation plans, including scenario modeling and sensitivity analysis.

  • Perform monthly variance analysis comparing actual compensation performance to budget, forecast, and modeled expectations.

  • Conduct look-back analyses to evaluate how compensation plans performed relative to original assumptions and pro forma projections.

  • Prepare and present compensation analyses to physicians, APPs, operational leaders, and executives, explaining financial outcomes in clear, understandable terms.

  • Support the creation, documentation, and ongoing refinement of compensation-related policies and procedures.

Financial & Operational Analysis

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance financial and operational analyses related to clinical productivity, staffing, and resource utilization.

  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, productivity reports, benchmarking, and operational metrics.

  • Create pro formas related to compensation, new providers, clinic expansions, and service line growth.

  • Support evaluation of new business initiatives, service expansions, and operational changes through financial modeling.

  • Identify opportunities to improve financial performance, operational efficiency, and alignment with organizational strategy.

Business Partnering & Communication

  • Serve as a financial liaison to assigned clinics, departments, or service lines.

  • Collaborate with physicians, APPs, clinic administrators, and operational leaders to support informed decision-making.

  • Translate complex financial data into actionable insights for non-financial audiences.

  • Provide training and guidance to operational leaders on financial reports, compensation models, and performance metrics.

Budgeting & Reporting

  • Support annual budgeting and forecasting processes, including productivity and compensation assumptions.

  • Perform month-end close responsibilities as assigned.

  • Complete ad hoc analyses to support leadership requests and strategic initiatives.


Required Skills and Competencies

  • Strong financial analysis, modeling, and reporting skills

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including complex and integrated financial models

  • Ability to evaluate large datasets and reach sound conclusions efficiently

  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills

Required Qualifications

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field preferred (other degrees considered based on experience), required.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience preferred

  • Healthcare finance experience strongly preferred, including physician practice management or hospital operations

Additional Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with physician and APP compensation modeling

  • Knowledge of clinical productivity metrics (e.g., RVUs)

  • Proficiency with financial reporting, data visualization tools, and benchmarking platforms
