Job Description
The Department of Management in the Phillips School of Business at High Point University is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for the position of Professor of the Practice of Business Law. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for teaching undergraduate courses in Business Law and related topics.

The candidate will work collaboratively with faculty across the Department of Management and the Phillips School of Business. The Phillips School of Business embraces a broad range of theoretical and methodological perspectives, values collaborative research, and encourages faculty to work across divisions and specializations.

Qualifications

  • Earned Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-approved law school (minimum requirement).
  • Minimum of 18 hours of graduate coursework closely related to business law, or a related field.
  • Relevant experience in the practice of law or in a related professional field.
  • Teaching experience at the university level (highly preferred).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to engage in service activities within the university and professional community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach courses in business law.
  • Contribute to the development of the curriculum for the business law course and any other applicable courses.
  • Develop and update course materials to enhance student learning.
  • Participate in departmental, college, and university service activities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on research and academic initiatives.
  • Participate in committees within the department, school, and university, and participate in professional and governmental organizations as appointed by the Department Chair and/or Associate Dean
  • Abide by University and School of Business policies
  • Undertake other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Department Chair and/or the Associate Dean

Accountability:

  • This position reports to the Chair of the Department of Management.
