    The Greencastle-Antrim School District has opening for a PA certified 6-12 Instrumental Music Teacher.  The successful candidate is also expected to serve in the supplemental positions of HS Marching Band Director and HS band/concert/stage ensembles director.

    • Previous experience teaching and conducting band (stage and marching) instrumental ensembles, and small group lessons.
    • Must be able to teach and play multiple instruments.
    • Must have a working knowledge of computer software integration into music in all areas, i.e. classroom, concerts, field band, etc.
    • Must be proficient in arranging music.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. Minimum of bachelor's degree in education or equivalent educational experience to qualify for Commonwealth certification.
    2. Valid Pennsylvania teaching certificate for the level and/or subject(s) to be taught.
    3. Such alternatives or equivalents to these requirements as the Board may find acceptable


    REPORTS TO:  Building Principal

    JOB GOAL:  To provide effective subject matter instruction within one or more specific content areas to children of varying developmental and learning levels.

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Provide effective instruction in all curricular areas as assigned by the building principal in accordance with district approved curriculum.
    2. Implement the district's philosophy of education, goals and objectives through the district's sanctioned curriculum in accordance with approved planned courses of study.
    3. Assist in the planning and development of curriculum and planned courses of study.
    4. Provide instruction and support for individual student differences and collaborate with appropriate professional staff to address individual or group needs and make recommended modifications or accommodations.
    5. Plan a daily program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
    6. Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
    7. Use a variety of instructional methods to covey concepts and facts in order to transmit knowledge to students.
    8. Evaluate student progress with a variety of techniques.
    9. Recognize learning problems displayed by students and report such concerns to the building principal.
    10. Establish and maintain appropriate classroom management techniques and assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and board policy for all students in the school.
    11. Keep records as required by the educational program.
    12. Establish personal professional growth goals.
    13. Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively with parents, students, community and other staff
    14. Perform other duties related to the position of Classroom Teacher as requested by the Building Principal.
