Job Description

The Director of Emergency Services is accountable for the overall management and operations of the Emergency Department:

-Managing the fiscal and human resource of the unit, assisting in formulating goals and objectives for the unit.

-Following policies and procedures to maintain standards and identify and prevent problems.

-Maintaining active participation in unit to ensure that objectives, standards and practices are achieved.

-Achieving and maintaing patient satisfaction goals by evaluating the quality of care on a continuous basis by direct observation and with feedback from patients, staff and physicians.

-Meeting and maintaining quality goals and for ensuring compliance with policies, state and federal laws and regulations and Joint Commission standards.

-Bachelor of Science in Nursing

-Valid NC RN License

-Minimum five years management experience

-MSN preferred

-Candidate must possess the skills necessary to promote a positive work environment and establish interpersonal relationships with Physicians, Department Leaders and Staff.

-Candidate must demonstrate independent problem solving and decision making skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, knowledge of quality improvement principles and procedures, The Joint Commission (TJC) standards and State/Federal regulations.


Valid NC RN license.

BSN required, MSN preferred.

Minimum five years ED Director experience preferred.
