Position Summary This role is a core management position for the company's European BNPL business, responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle management and granular operations of the BNPL product within the region. The incumbent holds overall accountability for business scale, user growth, commercial monetization, and compliance/risk control targets. By integrating European market characteristics, regulatory policies, and user needs, this role will establish a localized product and operational framework, drive scalable business expansion, and build core competitive advantages.

Key Responsibilities

1. Product Strategy & Full Lifecycle Management

  • Develop and own the European BNPL product strategy and roadmap. Design differentiated product offerings (e.g., interest-free installments, payment deferrals) tailored to competitor dynamics, user habits, and business objectives, covering core e-commerce and offline retail scenarios.
  • Oversee end-to-end product execution, lead cross-functional collaboration to ensure high-quality and efficient feature launches, and optimize the omnichannel user journey from payment to repayment.
  • Ensure product design, terms disclosure, and all processes comply with regional regulations (e.g., EU's CCD3 Directive, UK's BNPL-specific rules), balancing compliance requirements with commercial agility.

2. Granular Operations & Business Growth

  • Build the European BNPL operations system, formulating strategies for user acquisition, retention, and monetization to enhance core business metrics through segmented operations and marketing initiatives.
  • Manage dual-side operations for merchants and users: acquire and develop high-quality merchant partnerships with a structured operational framework; build omnichannel user acquisition funnels, optimize conversion pathways, and establish service and dispute resolution mechanisms.
  • Establish a data-driven decision-making system, analyze core metrics to generate insights, and drive iterative optimization of product, operational, and risk strategies.
  • Build and manage a local team, define performance metrics, and foster effective collaboration across time zones and cultures to ensure operational execution.

3. Risk, Compliance & Ecosystem Integration

  • Collaborate with the risk team to build a localized BNPL risk management framework, optimizing credit assessment, anti-fraud, and collection strategies to balance growth with risk control.
  • Monitor regulatory updates across European markets, promptly adapt product and operational processes, and proactively manage regulatory inquiries to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Drive the integration of BNPL services with the company's existing ecosystem to create a "Payment + Consumption + Services" closed loop, enhancing overall competitiveness.

Qualifications

1. Mandatory Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or above, preferably in a relevant field.
  • 8+ years of experience in fintech/payment, with at least 3 years of hands-on BNPL business experience in the European market and a proven track record in scaling operations successfully.
  • Deep expertise in the BNPL markets and regulatory landscapes of key European countries, with practical experience in risk and compliance.
  • Strong product design skills combined with comprehensive operational capabilities and a demonstrated impact on core business metrics.
  • Full professional proficiency in English (verbal and written). Proficiency in additional European languages is a plus.

2. Core Competencies

  • High commercial acumen and strategic thinking, with the ability to identify market opportunities and balance growth, profitability, and risk.
  • Data-driven mindset, proficient with analytics tools to derive insights and drive optimizations.
  • Excellent cross-functional, cross-cultural collaboration, team management, and negotiation skills, capable of navigating complex business environments.
  • Resilient under pressure, innovative problem-solver with a deep passion and understanding of the BNPL industry.

3. Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience at a leading European BNPL platform or with BNPL operations for large cross-border e-commerce players is highly preferred.
  • Existing network or experience working with European merchants, financial institutions, or regulatory bodies is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with the application of AI/ML technologies in BNPL and experience in product innovation is a plus.
