Mencap is seeking compassionate and dedicated Support Workers to join our team.
As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with learning disabilities to live fulfilling and independent lives. You will work with a diverse group of people, each with their own unique abilities, needs, and preferences.
The service supports individuals with learning disabilities, autism and physical needs who live in their own flats within a complex setting. Support is tailored to each individual and may include assisting with daily activities, promoting independence, and providing emotional support.
While the role can be challenging at times, it is highly rewarding and offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.
What we are looking for- A genuine passion for supporting others
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships
- Flexibility to work a range of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- A positive and empathetic approach to supporting individuals with learning disabilities, autism and physical disabilities
- Experience supporting individuals with moving and handling needs
- Willingness to learn and develop new skills
This role requires a full UK driving licence.
Due to the nature of this service we are looking for female only applicants. This post is exempt under the Equality Act 2010, Schedule 9, Part 1.
Contract details- Part-time hours
Shift timesAll services operate on a 24-hour basis. Rotas are prepared at least four weeks in advance to support work-life balance.
- Day shifts between 07:00 and 22:00
- Sleep-in shifts available, paid at a flat rate of £64.20 per shift
All roles are subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
Mencap holds a Home Office sponsorship licence; however, due to current restrictions on our allocation of Certificates of Sponsorship, we are unable to offer sponsorship for this role. Applicants must therefore have the right to work in the UK without the need for sponsorship.
